For
over a century, the building that now houses the Glarner Stube has
stood as a New Glarus landmark, first as a telephone operator's
quarters, then as a cigar manufacturing shop, a pool hall, bowling
alley, and since the early 1950s, a bar and restaurant.
The
literal translation of "Glarner Stube" is "The Living
Room of New Glarus" - an appropriate welcome for the thousands
of locals and visitors who stop by each year for a bite to eat,
a famous New Glarus brew, and above all, a comfortable place to
enjoy old friends and make new ones.
We
are honored that you've chosen to visit us, and hope you enjoy take
in the rich history and tradition of the Glarner Stube and the village
of New Glarus.
